Gary Fisher
Gary Fisher aka the father of mountain bikes. Yes, it was Gary who in 1974 cobbled together a bike that he and his friends could use to blast up and down the paths and foot hills of Marin County, California. Today Fisher bikes continues to innovate with new frame geometries, designs, and materials. One of his latest is the use of 29-inch wheels, as opposed to the more traditional 26-inch wheel. This body of work led Popular Mechanics magazine to recognize Gary Fisher for his innovations in sport in 2000. Gary Fisher manufactures trail, road, and hybrid bikes to complement his mountain bike line. In fact Gary was a renowned road racer before he began building bicycles.
